Dream Circle Winner

StewartBrown came out in support of IRT’s Race Against Homelessness Race Day on Saturday 15th, with sponsorship and a contingent StewartBrown racegoers to yell the horses home in the eight-event card. The first race was our very own: the StewartBrown Chartered Accountants Maiden Plate. There were six runners and a close finish.

It was a perfect winter day at the Kembla Grange track and Grant Corderoy, our Senior Partner, and Stuart Hutcheon, head of Audit and Assurance, were on hand with our longstanding clients IRT, in the persons of Group Chair, Mike Halloran, and IRT executives Patrick Reid, Peter Fitzgerald, Anita Mulrooney, and Toby Dawson. Toby is the Manager of the IRT Foundation.

Grant and Stuart are specialists in Aged Care and Not For Profit organisations. IRT (Illawarra Retirement Trust) are community-based seniors’ lifestyle and care providers who opened their first aged care home in 1975. The Trust celebrates 50 years in operation this year.

StewartBrown was a Gold Sponsor of the event, and so had the honour of sashing the winner of The StewartBrown Chartered Accountants Maiden Plate, two-year-old colt Dream Circle, from the David Payne yard at Rosehill.

Young apprentice jockey Louise Day got the colt’s nose just in front of second-placed Don’t Judge Me. StewartBrown congratulate her, Mr Payne and all connections. Louise went on to win again at Port Macquarie on Sunday.

IRT’s Toby Dawson told the Illawarra Mercury “On any given night there are almost 20.000 people over the age of 55 sleeping rough in Australia, including 2,000 over 75.”

Branka Zugnoni of IRT tells us a good crowd were on hand at Kembla Grange, and the day raised $35,000 for the IRT to tackle the growing homeless crisis faced by disadvantaged older people in the Illawarra.
